The owners and staff of the Vermont Book Shop seek: to provide friendly, personal, and individualized service to all of our customers; to curate an inventory which reflects both the essence of our small commuity and an informed world-view; and, in the interest of preserving jobs, stewarding an institution, and contributing to the economic vitality of greater Middlebury, to be profitable.
Furthermore, we strive to engage with and give back to the community that supports us through event programming, local partnerships, the VBS Friends rewards program, generous discounting for schools and non-profits, and in-kind contribtutions to a wide variety of community groups.
While the Vermont Book Shop has been in business continuously since 1949 and has a rich history, we recognize that to survive these increasingly digital and economically challenging times, we must adapt. Therefore, we will embrace new technologies, follow the lead of changing consumer behaviors, and continually look for new opportunities to remain viable and useful.
